The Brief:
•To design the mechanical system that allows you to evenly wind several layers of wire onto a bobbin.
•To devise a method for counting how many turns have been wound.
•To design the electronics control system that winds a specific number of turns.
•To build and integrate the above 3 systems into a working whole
•To develop the production materials (BOMs, manufacturing drawings, financials, etc.) required to be able to take the coil winding machine into production, for a quantity of 500 machines per production run.
The underlying theme was concurrent engineering where all tasks are done in parallel and in collaboration.
